Spring Flowers

These trees may grow in the yard behind us, but we definitely reap all the benefits at this time of year.

As you see, quite a few of branches hang a long way over our side of the fence.

Callistemon blossoms have no discernible scent but are the most often this amazing colour. Red is especially attractive to birds, which means that when in flower, these trees are full of life; not only rainbow lorikeets like this one, but wattle birds, twenty eights, honey eaters of varying sizes, silver eyes and even crows, are regular visitors.

The bees too get in on the act, filling the yard with a constant, meditative hum, that can be heard from well inside the house.
