Here’s Something You Don’t See Everyday (on this blog anyway)

A completed project! Yes, the cape I started way back in October, is finally finished. Now, the reason this took so long is not that I ran out steam or lost interest, it was, as it is so often with things I do, that I saw the finish line and sped towards it. And yes, in my haste I made a mistake; I neglected to 'knit' the one and only, not to mention vitally important, buttonhole.

Of course straight away I blamed the pattern; obviously they had neglected to include instructions for that buttonhole! Wrong! I reread it, properly this time, and the instructions were there in glaring black and white; the mistake was well and truly mine. So, although the cape has been 99.9 % finished for a few months now, sewn together and everything, instead of being shown off to all and sundry, it has languished in a bag at the back of cupboard, waiting on me to come up with a 'fix'.

So, after what seemed an eternity spent thinking about it, a bit of help from Google, and just a tiny tad of whining to SP, I came up with this.

A crocheted length of ‘chain’, stitched onto the wrong side of the band, pulled through to the right side, checked for length, then pulled back again to the wrong side, and stitch into place.

It worked out so much better than I expected and looks just like a real one!
