Slow living

When I noticed a tear in the doona cover yesterday, I decided it was something that could be mended. Although my skills in this area range from severely limited to almost non-existent, I didn’t think sewing a tiny tear would take too long. As the instructions I referred to on Martha Stewart’s website said, “A hole can be quickly repaired”. Yeah I’m sure it can, unless your cats turn up….

Bertie arrived first and decided he needed to take a nap inside the cover.

Then along came Indi with a similar idea. She though, wanted to be on top of the cover, and a little closer to the action. Yes, that is the needle on the left of the photo.

Now, as all cats know and cat owners soon learn, there is a rule that says, if a cat looks comfortable, you can’t move it. There is no reason for this, you just can’t, as I said, it’s a rule. So the cats stayed put. Sure, I was able to sew a stitch every so often, but it wasn’t until they moved that I was able to finish my ‘tiny’ bit of mending.

It may not look like three hours work but it certainly gave new meaning to the idea of ‘slow living’.
