As we edge towards winter solstice, every movement
in the air brings a flurry of leaves from our trees. They are beautiful and everywhere, including I
have no doubt the gutters, a seasonal cleaning job for the weekend and probably the
one after that.
Our ‘rescue’ grapevine is just beginning to look seasonally
bare. I think the unusual warm weather we’ve had this June may have
confused it a little, as along with the last of this year’s withering
leaves, there are a few tiny new green ones already appearing on some of the
stems.
I’ve never been really sure when to prune the grapevine, but
am glad I haven’t done it yet, as I found this little guy hugging one of the old
leaves.
I have no idea what he is or will become but I’m going
to keep an eye on him and will hopefully see the end result.
